Shaun Wykes

Graduate Program

Shaun graduated in 2018 from the Masters of Directing for Performance at the Victorian College of the Arts. He began directing for theatre whilst studying his undergraduate at the Australian National University and his practice has encompassed working on established texts, musical theatre, new work and devising. After graduation, he worked in England as a deviser and performer with Contact Theatre, Quarantine and Flipbook People. During his Masters, he interned with Chris Kohn, Eamon Flack and Benjamin Schostakowski where he focused on new work and adaptation processes. For his graduating production, he collaborated with playwright Fiona Spitzkowsky on her new work Unicorn D*ck and his subsequent thesis was an exploration of the writer-director relationship in theatre. He looks forward to learning more about new work development during his time with Red Stitch.

Shaun joins the Red Stitch Ensemble as the Graduate Director in 2019.
