Kevin Hojerslev
Dramaturg Graduate 2022
Kevin Hojerslev is writer, performer and dramaturg who focuses on the creation and development of new work. He is especially interested in evolving the architecture and conventions of scripts to better suit contemporary theatre making styles and emergent performances, particularly with regards to how script formats can be more supportive of group devised projects and other writing processes that do not come from singular authors.
He is also drawn to theatre as a platform for creating collective imagined futures for communities. He sees the democratic and live aspects of theatre and theatre making as an effective vehicle for harnessing the imaginations of audiences towards considering personal and shared futures.
Kevin was born in Bangkok and has lived his life across Australia, China and Thailand. Making and watching theatre across multiple countries while being immersed in their culture for long periods of time has given him a nuanced and sensitive appreciation of how art emerges from culture and how culture shapes around art.
Returning to Melbourne in 2018, Kevin began his undergraduate studies at the VCA, completing their Theatre course in 2021. It was here that Kevin gained an appreciation for the diversity of theatre making processes.
