PRODUCTION INFORMATION
Imagine having two days to justify your life’s choices.
Three women. Three generations. One long weekend in Copenhagen.
Emma has finally ‘made it’. She is about to receive the Hans Christian Award – the ‘Little Nobel Prize’ of children’s fiction. With her mother, Beth, by her side to share in the moment, Emma is ready to celebrate the pinnacle of her career in a luxury Copenhagen hotel. But an unexpected visitor disrupts Emma’s plans and threatens to upend her future.
In a land of fairytales, three women discover and rediscover the power of stories – those we tell ourselves and those who make us who we are.
Developed through the Red Stitch INK new writing program, Warner’s stunning new play shimmers with deeply felt observations about family, womanhood and the universal power of fiction.
Grace brings Sarah Goodes, one of the country’s most sought-after directors to Red Stitch for the first time with an extraordinary design team. Grace also heralds the highly-anticipated return of ensemble member Kate Cole to the Red Stitch stage, alongside the incredible Jillian Murray and talented young actor, Mia Tuco, in the title role.
Grace was developed through Red Stitch’s INK program.

“…director Sarah Goodes – marking her Red Stitch debut – holds us captive. We are enthralled by what is at once a profoundly theatrical experience, but one that also feels somehow cinematic.”

“Sarah Goodes’ production gets the best from the performers, and it’s fabulous to witness actors of the calibre of Jillian Murray and Kate Cole fully inhabiting a spiky but intensely close mother-daughter relationship.”
- The Age -
